Rimma Sushankaya Performance

Welcome to the Virtuoso Violin Festival 2012

Rimma Sushanskaya and friendsThe 11th Virtuoso Violin Festival got off to a good start on Sunday evening with the ‘Rimma Sushanskaya and Friends‘ concert in Stratford-upon-Avon.  This exciting concert show-cased some of the International  participants, the Enigma String Quartet and, of course, Rimma Sushanskaya herself.  The audience enjoyed pieces by Bach, Prokofiev and Vaughan Williams and during the interval  it was a good opportunity to meet up with old and new friends from across the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome course leaders and delegates back to Stratford-upon-Avon. We are sure you will have both a fruitful and enjoyable experience during your stay. Please do join us for  student recitals on Saturday the 11th August at 7.30 p.m. This free concert will be held at the Levi Fox Hall, King Edwards School, Stratford-upon-Avon.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Recent performance in Gabrovo, Bulgaria

In June  Rimma visited Gabrovo, Bulgaria, where she had the pleasure of conducting the  Pleven Philarmonic and the Pleven Chorus.  Here are two videos of the performance on the 7th of June. These are Confutatis, Lacrimosa  and  Domine Jesu Christe from Mozart Requiem.

We hope you enjoy these.

Virtuoso Violin Festival Opening Concert

Violin festival set to take music-lovers by storm (Stratford Herald)

“The programme will begin on Sunday 5th August with a concert at King Edward VI School, featuring the festival’s artistic director Rimma Sushanskaya, who hails from Stratford, in a performance of Bach’s well-loved Concerto for Two Violins in D minor. Ms Sushanskaya will be playing with Francois Pineau-Benois, a young talent from France, and accompanied by the Enigma String Quartet.”

“This opening concert will also provide a rare opportunity to enjoy Bach’s seldom heard Concerto for Three Violins performed by Wonhae Bae, Joo Yeon Sir and Julia Liang, all currently studying with Professor Felix Andrievsky at the Royal College of Music, in London.”

“The Enigma String Quartet will be joined by Junghee Keum for the beautiful and evocative Phantasy Quintet by Vaughan Williams and exciting virtuosos Wonhae Bae and Joo Yeon Sir, both from Korea, will complete the programme with Prokofiev’s Sonata for Two Violins. Admission to the event is free.”

RTN TV and a visit to Washington

We are pleased to tell you that Rimma was a guest on RTN TV in New York on the 5th of April. During this hour-long programme Rimma talked about her life and recordings of some of the highlights of her career as a virtuoso violinist and conductor were broadcast. Rimma has a very good story to tell and a vibrant way of getting it across to any listener! We are pleased to say that much of her story can be found on this website and you can get a good glimpse into her journey from Russia to the ‘here and now‘.

Leonid Sushansky, Washington, April 2012

Following this event Rimma travelled to Washington where her son, Leonid Sushansky,  was performing in the Rosslyn Spectrum Concert Hall, Arlington. He gave a ‘wonderful. exciting and mature performance’  of three Brahms Sonatas with the excellent pianist Carlos Rodriguez. This event was very special as Leonid dedicated it to his mother. How lovely!
