Dr Rimma Sushanskaya has been described by the Washington Post as one of the greatest violinists alive today. As the last student and protégée of the legendary David Oistrakh, she continues the great Russian string - playing tradition.

In 2007,
Rimma Sushanskaya continued to perform and conduct
internationally and some of the recent successful events
took place in the UK, South Korea, Israel and the United
States of America. On December the 25th and 26th
she performed with the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra in Gewandhaus, Leipzig; as both conductor and soloist.
The programme included J. S. Bach, Corelli and
Tchaikovsky. This year (2008) some of the performance and conducting events include;

At the age of 26 years Rimma Sushanskaya gained her PhD., basing her research on the left-hand of the violinist. When Rimma Sushanskaya is not performing or conducting, she is teaching, passing on her skills and knowledge to young and enthusiastic violinists. Rimma is a Professor at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Rimma Sushanskaya, when not working, likes to keep young and fit through sports and particularly enjoys yoga, table tennis and snooker. She now divides her time between her bases in New York, London and Stratford-upon-Avon in her role as performer, conductor and teacher. |
